It works by replacing estrogen that is produced by the body. This medicine is use after menopause to reduce moderate to severe hot flashes and treats moderate to severe menopausal changes in and around the vagina. It provides systemic estrogen therapy by releasing estradiol, the major estrogenic hormone secreted by the human ovary. Endogenous estrogens are responsible for the development and maintenance of the female reproductive system and secondary sexual characteristics.
